In the age of social media and people sharing their lives online, there seems to be an overwhelming amount of requests for honesty and transparency with just about anything. I guess this comes with the territory for influencers and celebrities because followers and fans won’t let down on asking if so and so got botox, lip filler, paid to promote a product, etc.
We all know how dangerous social media can be when it comes to impressionable minds, spreading false information, and creating incorrect narratives. These apps on our phones are literally other worlds and oftentimes the real world and ones social media presence gets jumbled up and confused. It’s almost like an episode of Black Mirror.
The Kardashian/Jenner family come to mind when thinking about the above. From BBLs, boob jobs, and botox—they’ve had it all and haven’t always been so transparent about it until now. But this begs the question, do they really need to be forced to be transparent about the work they’ve done? Kylie Jenner was bullied for getting her lips done years ago. She was urged to admit what she’s done, which was out of insecurity of her natural lips, and was still scrutinized for it. But now everyone is doing it. The same can be said for BBLs, implants, or other body enhancement surgeries this family has gotten. They were shamed for making such drastic changes to their bodies, but now people have been flying all around the world for years to look like them.
